A remarkable 'red tide' phenomenon has struck many Atlantic beaches in Argentina, especially impacting tourists at the famous Mar del Plata resort, causing strong odors and concern among beachgoers.

Stunning Red Tide Hits Atlantic Beaches in Argentina

In the coastal areas of Argentina, there has been a significant number of beaches on the Atlantic coast this week, where an unusual red tide with water through can be observed. Scientists assert that this is a natural occurrence, known as 'arribazón.'

Ricardo Silva, a marine biologist, explained that large red tide organisms attach to underwater rocks, but can be displaced by strong waves and wash ashore. He added that this phenomenon tends to peak in the summer, and during this season, it is observed more frequently.

For many beachgoers, such as the popular resort Mar del Plata (420 km south of Buenos Aires), fresh red tides brought a strange surprise after countless hours in the sun. This caused discomfort among people who found themselves in the water.

This week also brought to mind photographs of the red waves of the Atlantic Ocean, reminiscent of serious water pollution that had occurred just ten days earlier near the shores of Buenos Aires. The Sarandí River was painted a bright red for several hours, causing dismay among local residents, who recalled that the river constantly suffers from pollution, yet this time the water was "blood-red."
